Frequently Asked Questions

Why do you call yourself “the church in Akron?”
This is the way churches were designated in the New Testament, i.e. the church in Jerusalem, the church in Rome, the church in Antioch, the church in Corinth, etc. The church is therefore inclusive of all genuine believers in the community. We wish to remain faithful to this New Testament pattern.
How long has the church in Akron existed?
The church in Akron first incorporated in 1970.
How do you join the church?
You cannot “join” the church. If you are a genuine Christian and live in the greater Akron area, you are already part of the church in Akron. This is the New Testament pattern.
Are you part of a larger organization or denomination?
We are not affiliated with any organization or denomination. We feel that all Christians are already part of the body of Christ, and that is good enough. We do, however, often join with other churches to enjoy the fellowship of Christ’s body.
